|
February, 2010

On Saturday, January 30, 2010, Team Spine & Sport walked in support of Breast Cancer Research at the 19th Annual Race for the Cure! Team Spine & Sport was represented by staff, patients, close friends, and family members. Almost 23,000 people participated along the waterfront in West Palm Beach.
Part of our group was a very special patient and friend, Lynn Montgomery. Lynn and her husband, Ken, came out that day, not only in support of Team Spine & Sport, but also to face a personal challenge. Saturday, January 30th, was the first time that Lynn had been able to participate in this event for the past eleven years due to physical challenges. As a result of the care and assistance she has received at Spine & Sport, in the last year, she was able to complete the walk and fulfill a personal goal! Congratulations Lynn!

HSS Rehabilitation Network Approves SPINE & SPORT As First Member Facility In Florida
|
|
February, 2010
New York and Jupiter: Spine & Sport, a rehabilitative clinic specializing in non-operative and post-surgical care located in Jupiter, FL, is selected by the Hospital for Special Surgery's(HSS) Rehabilitation Network as the first Member Facility to be accepted in the state of Florida.
The HSS Rehabilitation Network is a partnership between New York City’s Hospital for Special Surgery and an elite group of independently owned rehabilitation centers chosen for their excellent reputations. The HSS Rehabilitation network, until recently, consisted of facility sites within a 90 mile radius of New York City. Establishing facilities in Florida was a direct response to patient and physician feedback and represents the Network's first venture outside of the north east area: Spine & Sport is the first facility selected in Florida.
"Florida was a logical choice, more patients come to HSS from Florida than any other state in the country, outside of the NY area," said JeMe Cioppa-Mosca, PT, MBA, Director, Hospital for Special Surgery Rehabilitation Network." In fact, 41 percent of these patients live in the Palm Beach County area. The decision was also based on physician requests for high quality rehabilitation for their patients," she continued.
The acceptance of Spine & Sport into the Rehabilitation Network allows HSS patients the same acclaimed outpatient rehabilitation, here in Palm Beach County.
After a rigorous review Spine & Sport gained acceptance using the Medicare and Joint Commission standards and including a through on-site evaluation. Once accepted, Network providers, such as Spine & Sport, are revisited every 12-18 months by a site examiner to ensure the high standards are maintained.

With a reputation for excellence for providing outstanding patient care as the world's leading specialists in orthopedics, rheumatology and rehabilitation, Hospital for Special Surgery, based in New York City, receives patients from across the country and from abroad. To make rehabilitation more convenient for patients who travel to HSS for surgery and ensure the same high quality of care they would receive at Special Surgery, the hospital formed the Rehabilitation Network in 1994.
Spine & Sport, located on the first floor of the Abacoa Professional Center II, 600 Heritage Drive, Suite 110, in Jupiter, provides the superior rehabilitative care HSS mandates for their patients. Spine & Sport accepts patients outside of the HSS Rehabilitation Network and offers non-operative and post-surgical rehabilitative approach to spine, musculoskeletal, sports and occupational injuries through physical therapy, movement training, massage and sport-performance enhancement which is consistent with the continuum of care at HSS.
The treatment suites are designed specifically for individualized therapy and those who desire to exercise to their fullest potential but require special and caring consideration of their medical limitations. Michael L. Reed, DPT, MSc, OCS, MTC and Kerrie Brooks, DPT, ATC are partners who own and operate Spine & Sport. Dr. Reed reported, “We are honored and excited about our opportunity to collaborate with a world leading institution as respected as Hospital for Special Surgery. I am confident the care we provide at Spine & Sport will be reflective of the experience and knowledge provided by Hospital for Special Surgery’s physicians and staff.”
